Process

Ward|Blake Architects works hard to integrate our client’s core values into each design concept. We strive with every project to conduct ourselves with accountability and integrity. Through our integrated design process, we engage with the client, our consultants and the contractor to build a shared vision. We seek the best ideas from all participating parties to instill the best solutions for our design concepts. Our process embraces the broader site, looking beyond the immediate programmatic goals and site constraints. Through strategies that respect the built environment and principles of sustainability, we intend to connect people to a cohesive building project that enriches the site and connects seamlessly with its inherent character.

We begin with initial discussions with the Client to determine what they wish to accomplish and establish a program. Simultaneously, we begin our site evaluation to determine regulations from authorities having jurisdiction and other site constraints. We evaluate the resources, topography, orientation, bio-climatic characteristics, etc. before beginning the early schematic design.

Once we understand the parameters of the site and adjacencies, we develop the concept in collaboration with the Client. We present multiple ideas and keep the process fluid as the Client absorbs the design that is coming to fruition. Consultants begin to take part in the process as the design is developed. Through continued collaboration with Ward|Blake, the consultants, and contractor (depending on delivery method), the client is able to make informed decisions that influences the further development of the design and construction documents.

Ward|Blake and consultants collaborate with the Owner through the bidding/ pricing of the project and provide construction administration services throughout the building process of the project. Design is always on the forefront, and as new ideas arise during construction, they are properly vetted with the Design Team, Client, and Contractor. This collaborative effort enables everyone involved to continue to work in the Clients best interest and brings about the unified efforts of all involved to bring the Clients dreams to reality.
