The Teton County School District Administration Building is a modern civic facility designed to support the daily operations of one of Wyoming's leading school districts while demonstrating that sustainable architecture can be both cost-effective and high-performing. Designed by Ward + Blake Architects, the 8,600-square-foot administrative headquarters combines energy-efficient building systems, abundant natural daylight, durable materials, and thoughtful workplace design to create an environment that enhances productivity while minimizing long-term operational costs.

Serving as the administrative hub for the Teton County School District, the facility houses executive offices, administrative workspaces, conference rooms, and a board room within a flexible, highly efficient layout. Every aspect of the building was carefully planned to support collaboration, streamline operations, and provide a welcoming environment for district staff, educators, board members, and the public.

From the outset, the project was guided by two complementary goals: maximizing environmental performance while maintaining exceptional value. Through innovative planning and efficient construction, the building was completed at approximately two-thirds of the county's typical cost per square foot, demonstrating that sustainable public architecture can be delivered responsibly without sacrificing quality, durability, or performance.

Energy efficiency is integrated throughout the facility using a combination of advanced building technologies and passive design strategies. High-performance natural gas heating systems, automated lighting dimming sensors, and an intelligent building management system work together to optimize energy consumption while maintaining occupant comfort throughout the year. The project's ambitious sustainability goals were further supported through funding from the Jackson Hole Energy Sustainability Project, helping implement innovative technologies that reduce long-term operating costs and environmental impact.

Ward + Blake Architects paired these advanced mechanical systems with thoughtful passive design solutions that maximize daylight while improving occupant comfort. Large expanses of carefully positioned glazing introduce abundant natural light into offices and meeting spaces, reducing the need for artificial lighting throughout the workday. Custom-designed window box surrounds minimize glare from snow-covered landscapes and Wyoming's bright skies while preserving clear exterior views and creating balanced, comfortable daylight conditions.

Additional daylighting strategies—including transom windows and generous eight-foot roof overhangs—allow natural light to penetrate deeper into the building while reducing unwanted solar heat gain during the summer months. Together, these passive design elements contribute to improved employee wellness, enhanced productivity, and lower overall energy consumption.

The building's material palette reflects the firm's commitment to durability, simplicity, and timeless design. Warm birch millwork and light wood finishes create bright, inviting interiors that foster a comfortable and collaborative workplace environment. On the exterior, low-maintenance galvanized metal cladding provides exceptional durability while reducing long-term maintenance requirements and contributing to the building's thermal performance.
